Why Weifield?

Weifield Group won the business over six other competitors due to our competitive bid and our exceptional experience performing these types of projects.

Project Scope

For this project, Weifield Group is conducting a large power and instrumentation upgrade for the South Primary Clarifier Pump Station. This station supports four primary clarifiers that process 1.3 million gallons of water per hour. These clarifiers serve as the first step in the raw water sewage treatment process at the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District plant. The project includes changing out the existing Motor Control Center (MCC) with a new one using Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) motor controllers for better and more efficient pump control.

Weifield Group will install a new ProfiBus network system that will allow all controllers, automated valves and sensors to communicate to the local digital control unit and relay panel. A fiber optic infrastructure will also be installed for communication with plant-wide programmable logic controllers and remote panels. Weifield is also updating the light fixtures, fire alarm, general power, and mechanical systems. A new MCC will be installed to support the lagoon pumping station. A controller with level switches and sensors will be wired to the new pump including communication back to the pump station digital control unit.

Weifield Group’s foreman spent two weeks in the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District office familiarizing himself with the project and compiling a control estimate. Additionally, Weifield’s project manager has spent considerable time detailing equipment layouts and reviewing control schematics. Two of the four existing clarifiers and support pumps will be in operation during construction. Detailed planning and coordination with the general contractor, engineer, and plant operators is essential in managing this project and avoiding difficulties.
