Why Weifield?
Academic Office West was a high-profile project on the Fitzsimmons campus, and extra care was taken to select the right team from the beginning. We were one of the select few invited to bid this project. Weifield was selected based on our past performance with the general contractor, and the specific team we selected for this project.
Project Scope:
Weifield Group was hired to complete a full electrical build out of a 216,000 sq. ft. nine-story office building on the University of Colorado’s Fitzsimmons campus. The project included medium voltage electrical work which could have shut down a piece of the campus. We put together a highly qualified team with knowledge of the campus electrical system. The project included a main service of 2800A, 300KW generator, cable tray, lightning protection, and installation of a 1500KVA oil-filled transformer. We submitted the materials on this project 100% electronically, resulting in a fast and smooth submittal.
Weifield Worked Well with the Hands-on Client to Arrive at Success
This project was a fully designed hard bid project, but at the last minute the team discovered two 400A RTU units were not calculated in the overall project loads. Weifield had to act quickly to rectify the situation. We worked with the engineer to figure out the best way to add 800A of power, and run feeders to the building roof. We ended up taking in new feeders from the service transformer, and met with the general contractor to determine the best plan and implement it.
Safety
This project encompassed 39,862 man hours and no lost time.
