Design/Assist
Weifield Group Contracting is able to effectively team with our project partners in the design process to benefit our customers. We collaborate with our vendors in order to create desired benefits and a higher-end product, while saving money and staying on schedule. Weifield is able to participate in the negotiation process and ensure that the end user receives the best product available.
Design-assist projects are usually awarded at the full design development or 50% design development stage. Weifield Group Contracting is brought onboard to assist the design team in the final stages by providing accurate pricing, solving constructability issues, and bringing best value concepts to the process.
Design-Assist Process Steps
- Weifield will conduct an initial team meeting with the client representatives to ensure we capture all of the critical requirements.
- Weifield identifies three to five areas where we can use our experience to reduce costs, eliminate challenges, and shorten the schedule duration. We then present these value engineering options to the design team for discussion.
- Options are evaluated and solutions are identified, then we coordinate our electrical layout with the electrical engineer. The last thing Weifield Group wants to do is to reduce cost in the electrical division that will increase cost in another division (e.g., mechanical). Once our electrical layout is incorporated into the overall design, we produce BIM drawings and release them to the entire construction team.
- After the project is built, we follow up with the client to conduct systems training, collect functional feedback, and provide necessary contact information for any warranty needs or future additions.
Staffed for Success
Weifield Group Contracting understands that construction can begin before the building is fully designed, but that is an advantage. Weifield integrates field operations with the design team to ensure a quick and effective transfer of information. This also allows us to identify and solve constructability issues during the design process.
Weifield has LEED accredited professionals on staff that understand the sustainability issues involved in each project. They work closely with the design team to ensure that LEED best practices are being fully utilized. We make sure that our design-assist team are experts at identifying and solving electrical problems.
Weifield is a team-oriented company. We use this focus to work with the design team and deliver the finest quality product, on-time and within budget. With Weifield, you can be assured that we fully utilize all the advantages that the design-assist process offers.
