“THE FAST PACE AND EVER-CHANGING ENVIRONMENT IS EXCITING” ~ ALYSSA MIZE, WEIFIELD ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

My passion for the construction industry originated in April 2018 when an accidental fire occurred at the Colorado Springs Airport. I had the opportunity to assist in the reconstruction of the unsecured area of the terminal.

What I enjoy most about the construction industry is that its fast paced and the ever-changing environment is exciting. There is so much to learn and discover.

For mentorship, support and guidance in my career, I’d like to thank my original supervisor at Colorado Springs Airport, Troy Stover, for always pushing me to be better.  At Weifield, I’d like to thank George Kettlewell for being so passionate about the industry and for promoting the continuing of education.

Weifield has very strong leaders guiding the company into a positive direction. This positivity doesn’t only stay at the top, the energy gets distributed throughout and everyone has a voice.

My aspirations for the future involve being able to make a difference in the way women are viewed in the construction industry. Women are not just a quota to fill, but valuable assets to this industry.

CELEBRATING WIC WEEK: THE AMAZING WOMEN OF WEIFIELD!

March 7 – 13, 2021 is nationally recognized as Women in Construction (WIC) Week — where companies throughout the U.S. celebrate and emphasize the growing role of women in the industry!

We are excited to profile some of the highly competent and committed women in our ranks, this week – Sara Christman, Weifield Business Development Manager!

“WE GET TO BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE GROWING CITY WE LIVE IN” ~ SARA CHRISTMAN, WEIFIELD BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

I graduated from the University of Arizona in 2014 after studying Fine Arts for 3 years and started working for Yelp! after college. After working there for a couple of months, I tried out for the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders in May of 2015 and made the team. I moved to Denver that same month and started working at Weifield/Nex3Dimension in June of 2015 as a controller.

As to what I enjoy most about the construction industry, I love the fact that we get to be an integral part of the growing city we live in.

For mentorship, support and guidance in my career, I’d like to thank Shawna Peters, who taught me that every moment is an opportunity; Seth Anderson, who taught me a lot about how a company works, and how to always challenge yourself as a manager and person; and Karla Nugent, who has lead by example and allowed me to observe her talents which taught me about networking, client interactions and humility in the workplace.

I enjoy always being challenged. Weifield knows how to push their employees in a way that helps bring out the best in everyone.

I aspire to be recognized as a dependable resource for networking and information retrieval. I hope that one day there will be just as many women in the industry as men and we can use collaborative efforts to better the processes we use currently within the industry.
