Just a quick note to announce some exciting news regarding our own Jorge C., Weifield Estimator!….

Jorge is currently in a Master’s of Real Estate w/ Construction Management Emphasis program at DU — and last week he and his team competed in a national Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Competition in Reno, Nevada! The goal of the competition was to provide the student groups with a common problem around an integrated project delivery method; groups then took one day to come up with a solution and turn it in, and delivered a presentation on their solution to a panel of judges, the following day. (An integrated project delivery method is similar to design-build with a few differences as to when the parties involved are engaged, how many parties are engaged, and overall, it is a more collaborative effort as everyone involved has a vested interest in the project’s success.)

Jorge joined four others from his DU program to compete at ASC; his group represented Clark Construction and competed against two other student groups from Cal Poly and Stanford. Unfortunately, Jorge’s group did not win – but it was an invaluable learning experience for them and they will be able to take what they’ve learned to enhance their schooling and careers, today. Jorge is considering competing in next year’s ASC competition and also the upcoming 2022 Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge — sponsored by NAIOP and the Land Title Guarantee Company — in May. The Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge (RMREC) is a real-world development competition between graduate level real estate programs at the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver and the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder. Finalist teams compete for scholarships, future employment, and ultimately the NAIOP Cup!

A huge CONGRATS to Jorge and his team for being invited to compete on the national ASC stage!
