On October 13, 2018, Weifield’s Chief Business Development Officer Karla Nugent and numerous other community leaders were excited to facilitate a discussion at the @CrossPurposeX Reweaving Neighborhoods Summit about critical issues impacting our community!

Approximately 113 people were in attendance, including 26 main stage speakers and breakout panelists. For the opening main stage sessions, Jason Janz, CEO of CrossPurpose, cast a vision regarding our motivation for becoming an ally (our realization of how much grace we have received provides the motivation to extend love in action), then Whitney Parnell, founder of Service Never Sleeps, introduced what ‘allyship’ truly is, and who is an ally. Several breakout sessions were then held, spanning topics from ‘Reweaving Policy’ and ‘Reweaving Cross-Cultural Relationships’ to ‘Reweaving Volunteerism’ and ‘Reweaving Prison Reentry.’

The summit closed with two main stage panel discussions on ‘Good Jobs’ (which Nugent helped lead with other industry leaders) and ‘Bridging Social Capital’ – as well as a call to action. CrossPurpose plans to host another summit in the near future (likely in 2019); we were excited to participate in this important event helping to shape how we take action in our communities!
