On January 13th, 2017, Karla Nugent was presented with the Denver Institute for Faith & Work’s 2017 Tree of Life award at the organization’s “Work Makes the World” dinner and annual fundraiser, in Denver!

Karla Nugent was honored by the Denver Institute for Faith & Work as the 2017 community leader who has integrated her faith-based approach to business in order to shape the culture of the city for the better. Among many other charitable pursuits, Karla and Weifield Group Contracting were recognized specifically for Weifield’s apprenticeship pathway that supports individuals from the Stout Street Foundation, Peer 1 Residential Program, Goodwill Industries International, Denver Rescue Mission and similar organizations. This apprenticeship matches graduates from these programs with Weifield to work in prefabrication and, if they show initiative and success, places them into Weifield’s four-year paid apprenticeship program to become licensed journeymen. The program provides training and education so that participants seeking a true life change can start a career as an electrician at Weifield. Weifield has 40+ employees working for Weifield, today, who are successful rehabilitated graduates of these programs.

Denver Institute for Faith & Work is a nonprofit that provides theological education on issues related to work, calling and culture. The organization forms men and women who live with Christ in all of life, bear witness to the gospel in all of culture, and serve the needs of the world with the work of their hands.

We are proud of Karla and all of our ownership for placing the highest emphasis on one of our primary company values – our community!
