DENVER, COLORADO – October 15, 2021 – Weifield Group has announced that it has purchased a majority stake in privately held CGI Electric, a successful electrical contracting firm with headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee (a suburb of Nashville). The CGI Electric acquisition allows Weifield Group (Weifield) to enhance the company’s future growth by expanding into the Nashville and surrounding southern U.S. region.

CGI Electric has operated for 17 years under the leadership of Steve Cathey, Head of Business Development, and Willie (‘Chip’) Stokes, Sr. Project Manager/Estimator, who grew the business from a small start-up operation to a $13M business with over 75 employees; the company services a wide range of electrical construction projects and clients in the Nashville, Tennessee market and surrounding region. United by a common business culture, this new alliance between CGI Electric and Weifield – which now operates under the business name, Weifield Group Tennessee – fortifies the existing client base while allowing Weifield to meet its strategic expansion goals.

The new entity is led by CJ Wheeler, Weifield Tennessee General Manager; Cathey and Stokes have retained a partial ownership stake in the company, post-Weifield acquisition.

“This new alliance was one of our company’s main strategic goals for 2021 and opens up a host of opportunities for Weifield in the southern U.S. market,” said Seth Anderson, Weifield Group Chief Executive Officer. “We met with the ownership of CGI numerous times pre-acquisition and were pleased to find a company that aligned directly with our core values of people, process, community, and trusting relationships. With this acquisition, we are gaining strong talent and innovative performance that builds on Weifield’s successful client satisfaction history. We are excited about the future in the Tennessee region.”

“I am excited for this new chapter in our lives and the life of CGI Electric and I am pleased to continue with the company representing Weifield Group Tennessee,” said Cathey. “My role here is to continue to provide our community with the exceptional product that our teammates in the field deliver on a daily basis. These are exciting times, here, as we look toward the future – continuing to grow this new company and afford opportunities to all who take this journey with us!”

Under this merger, Weifield Group Tennessee will continue to service the acquired existing clients’ projects with the same standard of excellence and care as CGI Electric has delivered since inception – pursuant to its contracts; the company will utilize CGI Electric’s existing personnel and relationships in this market in order to grow as the company evolves.

Weifield is a recognized leader in cutting-edge electrical construction with more than 600 employees, based in Colorado, with offices and projects extending into Wyoming, Texas, and now, Tennessee. All of the company’s top general contractors rely on Weifield’s services to provide quality projects on time and in budget; Weifield’s focus is to deliver a level of excellence in the preconstruction and construction phases that exceeds the expectations of its clients.
