A Weifield article entitled “NREL: Lighting Design to Achieve Net Zero Results,” written by Weifield Preconstruction Manager Jim Dent, has been featured in the March issue of the Colorado Real Estate Journal’s Building Dialogue magazine!
Jim’s article highlights Weifield’s work as the electrical design build partner for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Research Support Facility (RSF) project. The Department of Energy (DoE) and NREL wanted this building to be the most energy-efficient office building in the world (the term “net zero” in this case is defined as a building that achieves zero net energy consumption, meaning the total amount of energy used by the building on an annual basis is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy created on the site) — so Weifield implemented the most energy-efficient electrical solution possible through the reengineering of the building lighting and lighting control systems.
