  3. Free Bodily Motion Injuries
    These occur from single or prolonged instances of body movement, often without impact. Common activities include:

    • Bending, crawling, reaching, twisting
    • Climbing, kneeling
    • Walking or running without incidents like falls

In 2022, overexertion injuries resulted in 13 fatalities, and from 2021 to 2022, there were 1,001,440 DART cases and 521,350 DAFW cases reported.

Start with Basics – Taking a few steps before lifting can make a big difference:

  • Stretch before lifting heavy loads
  • Keep feet shoulder-width apart
  • Lift with your legs, not your back
  • Avoid twisting, and hold items close to your body
  • Ask for help with heavy loads and use lifting tools when needed

Smart Storage

Store frequently used or heavy items between knee and waist height to avoid awkward reaching.

Use the Right Tools

Get comfortable with using dollies, carts, and other lifting aids. Even lightweight equipment like microfiber mops can reduce strain.

Report Early

Report any sprains or strains early, even minor ones. Early treatment helps prevent more serious injuries and keeps you in peak shape.
