Weifield Group Contracting was thrilled to receive multiple awards — including two first place awards, one second place award, and one third place award — at the 2016 Annual Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado ACE Awards Industry Gala held in Denver, CO on October 28, 2016!

Our first place award in the Best Building Project – Specialty Contractor (Under $2 Million) category was based on Weifield’s Pepsi Center Lighting Upgrades project — which required us to complete a fast-turn installation of a state-of-the-art LED lighting system(s) upgrade to the crown, entrance and colonnades features of the Pepsi Center facility. Weifield’s communication, expertise and teamwork focus helped to make it a seamless installation for the Pepsi Center and Mortenson Construction, General Contractor.

Weifield was also awarded the first place ACE Award along with co-submitter, JHL Constructors Inc. (General Contractor), for our work on the Lawrence Street Community Center/Denver Rescue Mission project which won in the Contribution to the Community category. Located near Coors Field and next door to Denver Rescue Mission’s shelter facility at Park Avenue and Lawrence in the Arapahoe Square district, the Lawrence Street Community Center (LSCC) broke ground in January, 2015, and provides a safe place for the homeless to gather and receive needed services during the daytime before the Denver Rescue Mission’s shelter opens for the evening. Weifield was excited about this award due to our long history of supporting Denver Rescue Mission’s vital work in the Denver metropolitan area.

Weifield was also awarded the second place ACE Award in the Best Building Project – Specialty Contractor ($6 Million – $10 Million) category for our work on the Laramie High School project. This brand-new high school opened on August 25th, 2016, in Laramie, Albany County, Wyoming. It is the largest high school in Wyoming to come out of the ground as one complete building—spanning over 295,000 sq. ft. This high school as compared to traditional high school projects was highly complex due to the fact that it had double the amount of special systems, additional square footage, increased power demands and custom areas and classrooms to support college-type program offerings.

Lastly, Weifield was awarded the third place ACE Award in the Meeting the Challenges of a Difficult Project – Specialty Contractor category for our work on the City of Longmont Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) – Gravity Thickener & Gas Digester project. This project was a complicated remodel of the city’s sole waste water treatment plant, which involved a complete shutdown of the facility and replacement of the plant’s burner within a six-hour window, while simultaneously keeping the city’s sole waste water plant fully operational.

The annual Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado award ceremony and Gala is Colorado’s largest commercial building construction event of the year, bringing over 700 key leaders, contractors, architects and owners together for a night of networking, recognition and celebration.

We’re honored to be recognized!
