“I HAVE GREAT RESPECT FOR THE TRADES” ~ SARA OCKER, WEIFIELD ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

I got my start in the construction industry in 2016 when I began working for a utility subcontractor doing design work for new residential subdivision underground utilities.  I quickly advanced to a leadership position where I managed 27 Design employees responsible for all phases of electric and gas distribution work for Xcel Energy.  During this time, I participated in the Denver Metro HBA as well as built relationships with homebuilders across the Northern Colorado and Denver Metro landscapes.  I began my career at Weifield as an Assistant Project Manager in January 2020.  One of my professional goals has been to pursue my PMP certification and to become a Project Manager in the construction field.

I genuinely enjoy the people in the construction industry. My father was a general contractor and my husband is a pipefitter.  I have great respect for the trades and the men and women who go out every day and help to build a better future.

I would first like to thank Russell Tafoya and Scott Dick for taking a chance and hiring me.  I have learned so much in the short time I have been at Weifield and look forward to the future.  I would also like to thank my entire Industrial Team in Windsor.  Everyone welcomed me with open arms and have been willing to take the time to answer my questions and help me learn the “Weifield Way”.

What I enjoy most about Weifield is by far, the people.  The Weifield culture is amazing and it shows in the pride everyone takes in the job they do daily.

My goal for the future is to obtain my PMP certification and take on a Project Management role.  I aspire to keep learning and strive for 1% improvement each and every day.  It is an exciting time for women in construction and I hope that my experiences can help inspire other women to join our growing industry.
