Weifield was excited to participate and be recognized at The Master’s Apprentice graduation ceremony on November 16, 2018!
Weifield was honored with a Master’s Apprentice ‘Gold Corporate Partner’ award at the ceremony – which recognized our commitment to The Master’s Apprentice program, a faith-based social enterprise created to connect industries in need of qualified apprentices and young men searching for a sustainable career. Shown in this photo are Weifield Training Manager, Duffy Stroumbos, accepting the award from Nick Brattin, Master’s Apprentice Director of Development.
The Master’s Apprentice provides a ‘pre-apprentice’ bridge over the opportunity divide between these young men and the growing need for apprentices in the skilled trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, welding, carpentry and masonry). The program recruits young men 18-28 years old from low income communities to participate in an eight-week intensive course that includes work ethic, construction math, financial literacy, career counseling and basic workshop skills. The students graduate with a complete personal portfolio including resumes, documents, and certificates needed to qualify with their future employer.
As a corporate partner, Weifield has established a win/win relationship with the organization with a goal of having their graduates become members of our team while meeting our workforce needs. In addition to providing a sponsorship, Weifield’s HR department helps apprentices in the program with mock interviews, and we will provide training and mentorship to help apprentices build their practical knowledge as well as hands-on experience. We are proud to be involved with this fantastic organization and look forward to more amazing work, together!
