Kudos to our Texas June, 2021 Employee of the Month — Joshua Baladez, Weifield Texas Apprentice!
The June, 2021 Employee of the Month round focused on identifying teammates in our company who best represent the ‘C’ (Community) value in our PACT.
Joshua was nominated by Garrett King (Weifield Texas Superintendent) and Alfredo Sustaita (Weifield Texas Foreman), who said the following:
From Garrett/Alfredo: “To be honest, I think Joshua Baladez should win employee of the month for the ‘C’ in our PACT. Back when we had the ice storm and lost power and water, John with Ryan Companies reached out to me to help H-E-B de-ice roadways. I knew that Josh and myself live close enough to get there without wrecking because we both had 4-wheel drive trucks and lived close to the job. When I called Josh to help, I told him this was about getting groceries back to the store, because as you all know, the stores have been completely emptied prior to the storm. He jumped on the opportunity to help, not only his community but all of the central Texas community, to get the biggest grocery store chain in Texas back up and running. He didn’t take breaks, only stopping for fuel, and also helped clear the industrial road as well as Niagara’s docks. That was all based off of him volunteering because water was just as important as food, since we lost water as well due to the below zero temperatures. He worked beside me in equipment for 12 hour days. Once we finished getting H-E-B back up and running, he continued to help pull 18-wheelers out from the ice that were stuck on the hill before entering H-E-B. Imagine seeing a road 2-3 miles long, four wide with parked 18-wheelers that need fuel and cannot make it up the icy road. Josh went above and beyond in my opinion and for this we at Weifield are very proud of his choice to help our community.”
Joshua is being awarded a $100 gift card and will be featured in Weifield’s online communications.
Thank you for all you do and for representing the ‘C’ in Weifield’s PACT, Joshua — congratulations!
