On February 19th, Jim Dent (Weifield Preconstruction VP) joined the City & County of Denver and several other panelists in the consulting engineering and building industry to present at the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Colorado New Building & Fire Code Amendments Roundtable — held at the ICOSA Event Center in Denver!
On Dec. 23, 2019, Denver adopted an updated building and fire code based on the 2018 series of base codes from the International Code Council (ICC) which will be enforced beginning in summer, 2020; the new building code also includes a “Denver Green Code” designed to encourage more sustainable design and construction practices. This roundtable targeted building owners, managers, and developers and was designed to inform participants as to how these changes will affect the buildings they own, manage or develop while offering an overview of Denver’s process in adopting the new code and a Q&A session.
Jim’s wealth of code knowledge as a decades-long IECC/NEC code trainer, former Vice President of DBIA-Rocky Mountain, and State of Colorado Electrical Board member was invaluable in translating the impacts of the new code changes to electrical infrastructure. Other participants included Christy Collins from the City & County of Denver Community Planning and Development division, Erin Kinder from KL & A, Inc., Mark Jelinski from The RMH Group, and Michael Passas from the MDP Engineering Group.
Proud to be a part of helping the Denver building community stay informed about the latest code impacts! #denver #electricalcode #education #weifieldway
