Weifield’s Lakewood Data Center project with Howell Construction (GC) began in late 2019 and completed in October, 2020; it involved the renovation of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation data center to upgrade reliability to N+1 redundancy for its MEP infrastructure – and all work was executed without taking the facility offline. Weifield’s team executed the cooling tower and CRAC unit upgrades; this project had a complete UPS backup system added and all switchgear updated during a 7-day critical shutdown — during which the building ran on backup generators. Our crew also added a completely new LED lighting system and two data pod systems to the data center and two PDUs.
Led by David Kyner (Field Supervisor) and Mike Barron (Project Manager), Lakewood Data Center team members included: Jack Crandell, Nilesh Gurne-Mannina, Heath McGuire, Michael Perez, Eli Peterson, Nathaniel Shufflin, Scott Thal, Nick Thomas, Robert Urioste and Brooks Zupancic. This team was also recognized as Weifield’s October, 2020 Crew of the Month.
Our clients, Anne Brumett (APM) and Chris Muniz (Superintendent) of Howell Construction, had this to say about our performance on this project:
“Weifield brought ideas to the table to ensure the project was done well and met expectations … from design to MOPs. The amount of communication was above what other firms provide – critical information necessary to help keep the project running. Weifield built a great schedule, made sure key milestones were hit, and was proactive!”
Thank you to our Lakewood Data Center crew for your outstanding performance and for creating yet another happy Weifield client!
